Mr. Music Jonathan Manalo recalls hits ‘Pinoy Ako,’ Angeline’s ‘Patuloy Ang Pangarap’

The man behind iconic songs “Boom Panes,” “Pinoy Ako,” “Kabataang Pinoy,” and “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” Jonathan Manalo revisits his humble beginnings via a face-to-face interview with the press.

On how he did it, he says he just did it with dedication and determination. If he’s extremely blessed, he writes songs. If he’s extremely broken, he writes songs. For him, great songs come from extreme feelings.

Finished advertising course at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Jonathan started joining song writing competitions and earned his spot at Star Music. He’s still the Creative Director of the said company.

As Creative Director for Star Music, Jonathan produces songs for Kapamilya artists, teleseryes, and movies. He names “Pinoy Ako,” “Tara Tena,” and “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” as his most memorable hits.

“Pinoy Ako” is PBB’s official soundtrack. “Tara Tena” will always be his first. And Angeline Quinto’s “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” sells huge amount of money.

Mr. Music became household name and continue to be one of country’s most beloved songwriters. He says a song becomes hit if it connects to people.

“It’s really how the message of the song connects, lives. But there’s no formula. Minsan may mga kanta na akala mo maghi-hit pero hindi.”

Surrounded everyday with music and good people, the Star Music Creative Director plans to produce a concert that highlights his iconic songs this October.

Jonathan is living his best life and celebrating his 20 years in the music industry. Watch out also for his a special collaboration project with missionary visual artist Kristine Lim, a first of its kind music & arts fusion project.

Manalo is recipient of more than 200 awards and nomimations from Awit Awards, Katha Music Awards, Star Awards For Film Festival, Catholic Mass Media Awards, New York Festivals, Walk Music, Metro Manila On Water Awards, and many more.
