Kapuso actress Bianca Umali shared that the third season of HBO Asia’s original series, Halfworlds, is now in the “editing” stage and could be shown as early as third quarter of 2022.
Bianca portrays a half-human and half-Engkanto heroine named Alex. The third season takes place in the Philippines after the first two tackled the mythology of Indonesia and Thailand, respectively.
“Sa ngayon, they are finishing editing na po. So hopefully, maybe by third quarter of this year, baka ma-launch na rin po kami,” Bianca, who was launched as one of Sparkle’s Next Brightest Stars of 2022, said in an interview with GMA News’ Nelson Canlas.
Bianca added that preparing for Halfworlds took months. In fact, she needed to train for the show’s sword fighting scenes for three months.
“We were actually given time to prepare and to train for the whole series kasi it is a fantasy-series focusing on the folklore of our country.
“So, sword fighting siya and we were given time to train. Actually, ‘yung process kasi na sinusunod nila, since it’s an international project, parang Hollywood system.
“So just like in Hollywood, just like in Marvel movies, they’re given time, months, years even, to prepare and to just train kung ano ‘yung scenes na kukunan.
“It was the same for us. We had a long preparation time, we had so many workshops, and so many costume fittings. So yes, there were a lot of preparations.”
The 21-year-old actress also admitted that starring in an international project has its own share of pressure.
She added, “Definitely, it is very pressuring but I don’t see it that way. It’s more of being just excited, e, na makita ng mga tao ‘yung nagawa namin.”
“‘Yung excitement of being given the opportunity of being a part of such a wonderful project, and international project on HBO. Just the thought of being on HBO is actually still surreal for me pero I’m excited na sana lumabas na ‘yung series because it’s been a very long wait.”
Aside from Halfworlds, Bianca has already portrayed some iconic roles in television projects such as in Kambal Karibal, Sahaya and Legal Wives.
